FOULS
In 3x3 basketball, fouls are counted collectively as team fouls, rather than individually for each player. This helps maintain the fast pace of the game. Regular fouls (such as reaching, blocking, or holding) committed during the act of shooting result in free throws for the offensive player: one free throw for a foul on a shot inside the arc, and two free throws if the foul occurs on a shot beyond the arc. Non-shooting fouls (like hand checks or off-ball contact) do not result in free throws until a team accumulates 7 team fouls. Once a team reaches 7, 8, or 9 fouls, the opposing team is awarded two free throws for every foul committed, regardless of whether it was during a shooting attempt or not. Upon reaching 10 team fouls, and for every foul thereafter, the penalty increases: the opposing team is granted two free throws and possession of the ball. Additionally, unsportsmanlike or technical fouls can be PENALISED at the referee’s discretion with free throws and/or loss of possession, depending on the severity and context. While individual players are not disqualified for personal foul counts, repeated misconduct or extreme unsportsmanlike BEHAVIOUR may lead to ejection from the game or tournament, as determined by the officials.
All players are expected to uphold a high standard of sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
possession
After a made basket, the opposing team gains possession and must take the ball behind the arc to resume play - no check ball is required. Following a defensive rebound, steal, or turnover, the team must also clear the ball behind the arc before attempting to score. For dead-ball situations (such as fouls or out-of-bounds), play resumes with a check ball behind the arc at the top. Possession changes must always be clear and controlled.
